Cynthia Foronda, RN, PhD, CNE, CHSE, ANEF is an Associate Professor of Clinical at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Foronda specializes in simulation, virtual simulation, interprofessional education (IPE), and cultural humility. An expert in curriculum development and evaluation of educational interventions, she is focused on encouraging breakthroughs through use of innovation, diverse teaching methods and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her work in virtual simulation has resulted in several international awards. Dr. Foronda’s research has provided some of the first evidence that virtual simulation is an effective pedagogy for nursing education. She has served as a consultant to universities and vendors internationally. She has experience as a principal investigator of a multi-site, international research study involving simulation.
Dr. Foronda currently serves on three editorial boards for prestigious journals involving education and simulation. She has a track record of publication and funding related to simulation. Dr. Foronda has participated in several leadership academies including the National League for Nursing Leadership Development Program for Simulation Educators and the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality Leadership.
