Marian Luctkar-Flude RN, PhD, CCSNE

VP for Research

Dr. Marian Luctkar-Flude graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1986 (BScN) and 2007 (MScN) and Queen’s University in 2016 (PhD), and has recently earned the designation of Certified Canadian Simulation Nurse Educator (CCSNE). She has over 20 years experience in medical-surgical nursing and over 18 years as an educator and researcher. Dr. Luctkar-Flude is now an Assistant Professor at Queen’s University School of Nursing and Co-President of the Canadian Alliance of Nurse Educators using Simulation (CAN-Sim). She has served on the INACSL Research Committee, ASPE/INACSL/SSH Regional Simulation Standards Workshop Planning Committee, and the 2018 INACSL Conference Welcome Committee including as a Canada House Hostess, and an Editorial Board Member for the journal Clinical Simulation in Nursing. Dr. Luctkar-Flude has extensive experience with high-fidelity patient simulation, interprofessional education and online learning. Her current program of research focuses on virtual simulation game design, presimulation preparation approaches, and faculty development. She develops and teaches simulation courses for the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing, Simulation Canada, and the Ontario Simulation Alliance, and delivers virtual simulation game design workshops through CAN-Sim. Dr. Luctkar-Flude was the 2016 recipient of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning Excellence in research award in recognition of her innovative research and leadership in the field of clinical simulation.
