As a master’s prepared nurse researcher, Jennifer Hayden completed one of the largest and most meaningful nursing education studies ever devised – the National Council of State Boards of Nursing: National Simulation Study. Her scholarship contributed to both evidence based practice and policy for nursing education and simulation.
In honor of Jennifer’s work and to commemorate her legacy, INACSL has created the Hayden Vanguard Lectureship, funded by CAE Healthcare. The lectureship will be awarded annually to an INACSL member who has contributed to the discipline and moved simulation forward in a meaningful way through their research, program, evaluation, or similar scholarly product. Awardees must demonstrate the ability to present their ideas well to a large audience. Their presentation should be engaging and inspire the attendees as they consider ways to innovate in their areas of research and/or simulation work. Selection of the awardee will be made by a four member panel consisting of the INACSL VP for Research, a CAE Healthcare Representative, Dr. Kim Leighton, INACSL Past President, and Dr. Valerie Howard, INACSL Past President each fall.
The Lectureship includes: funding for attendance at the INACSL conference (June), travel, hotel, an honorarium, and a commemorative award. The winner will present a one-hour plenary address about his/her innovation or research during the opening session at the INACSL Conference, 2019 to be held June 19-22, 2019 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona.
