JOB DESCRIPTION: The School of Health Sciences at Merrimack College is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated faculty member and leader to join our new Nursing Program in the spring of 2020. Oversight of the everyday operations of the new Nursing Center for Learning and Simulation is the primary role of this position. Applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant/Associate Clinical Faculty and Simulation Lab Director position in nursing beginning January 2020 are now being requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:The ideal candidate should have knowledge and proficiency in simulation education including development, implementation, evaluation of scenarios, competencies and skills laboratory experiences; ability to teach a variety of simulation scenarios throughout the nursing curriculum; provide instructional and remedial support to students to improve clinical competencies; the ability to lead and direct adjunct lab and clinical instructors to ensure the smooth operation of and a safe environment for the Nursing Center; and promote opportunities for inter-professional education. Master’s degree in nursing required; a doctorate degree in nursing or related field preferred; Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator or possess a certificate in healthcare simulation; Possess a minimum of two years of full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of competence in the area of simulation design, implementation and evaluation Knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, evaluation, directing a simulation lab, or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills no later than the first year of teaching Current/unencumbered Massachusetts state RN license, healthcare provider CPR and immunizations as recommended by the Massachusetts Department of Health. Nursing education experience preferred. We are looking for teaching-scholars who have a strong desire for an academic appointment focused on advancing knowledge through the integration of teaching and experiential learning. The ability to serve as student mentors and create immersive learning and professional development experiences is necessary. Candidates will present strong evidence of successful teaching in both the classroom and simulation environments. Successful grant writing to support technology and equipment acquisitions is a plus.
