Simulation Center Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Simulation Center Specialist will work as part of a team to develop and implement simulation-based inter-professional team training designed to enhance safety and quality in health care delivery. The Simulation Center Specialist operates, educates and supports staff and instructors in the use of simulation, audio-visual and other information communication technology. From time to time, the Simulation Center Specialist is also responsible for managing technology requirements of special projects. Flexibility, innovation, and communication are highly desirable attributes. The ability to work with a team is crucial. ***The incumbent will typically work 30 hours per week***
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with the creation of simulation environments based upon pre-planning activities and direction of the faculty and Simulation Center Director. Manages the operation of simulation equipment and other technologies within the center and the classroom environment. Assisting with equipment supply monitoring, organization and maintenance including low, mid, and high fidelity manikins, task trainers, lab supplies, and other simulation center equipment. Assists in orienting faculty and staff to simulation and other technologies. Supports best practices in the use of simulation strategies to achieve educational outcomes. Assists with open labs and special workshops as needed. Partner with the university Technology Services Department to insure accurate set up and upgrades to Simulation Center hardware and software as it relates to the health systems networks and systems. Maintains relationships with simulation and equipment vendors. Creates and maintains life-cycle maintenance plans for all laboratory and simulation equipment. Participates in annual budget review to support Simulation Center technology and maintenance. EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. Experience in healthcare desirable. Previous simulation experience strongly preferred. Strong technology acumen.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: IL RN license preferred. CHSOS Certification preferred.
