Simulation Nursing Educator
SUMMARY: Under the guidance and supervision of the Simulation Director the Simulation Nursing Education Specialist will support all aspects of the simulation center. This role will have a primary responsibility of supporting the undergraduate nursing program, although support for any of the university programs may be provided with approval from the Simulation Director. The position will also include collaborating with the IPE faculty and faculty and staff of the College of Health Sciences. Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitation of simulation learning experiences including pre-briefing, scenario operation, and debriefing. This includes the operation of the manikins during the scenarios as needed. Assisting the Simulation Director in faculty training and development. Assists faculty with learning activities related to simulation in the classroom as needed. Collaborates with the nursing faculty with learning needs assessments, creation of new learning activities & simulations within and outside the simulation center. Identifies, creates and documents quality initiatives for the simulation center in collaboration with the simulation center team members. Design, coordinate and assist in open labs and special workshop opportunities for nursing students including training and mentoring of student tutors. Work with the Simulation Director in selection, design, and implementation of technologies and equipment that support the students’ learning experiences. Collaborate with the Simulation Director and nursing faculty in developing and supporting inter-professional education (IPE) learning. Implement existing and develop new best practices for the use of resources in simulation Serve on the simulation committee and related university committees as per the direction of the simulation director or university administration. EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Nursing. CHSE certification or 1-2 years’ simulation experience preferred. Strong technology acumen.
