Percentage of Clinical Replacement Hours: During COVID-19, Schools of Nursing are allowed to use a Temporary Undergraduate Alternate Approval Process for up to 50%.

Up to 25% does not require approval, 26% to 50% requires approval

Ratio of Simulation to Clinical Hours: 1:2

Definition of Simulation:  A technique, not a technology, to replace or amplify real experiences with guided experiences that evoke or replicate substantial aspect of the real world in a fully interactive manner (Gaba, 2004).  An activity or event replicating clinical hours using scenarios, high fidelity manikins, medium fidelity manikins, standardized patients, role-playing, skills stations, and computer-based critical thinking simulations (Hayden, Jefferies, Kardong-Edgren & Spector, 2009).

Simulation Educator Requirements:  Faculty members are prepared by following the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice®.
